Lights of Love is a year-round program which
gives us an opportunity to honor or remember those we love
and cherish. All donations made to this program go to nursing
scholarships awarded annually by the Ladies Board of Inova
Loudoun Hospital.
We invite you to participate by giving a
light to be placed on the LIGHTS OF LOVE trees at the main
entrance of both the Lansdowne and Cornwall locations of
Inova Loudoun Hospital. You can give a light for a donation
of $10 or more. Names of those being honored or memorialized
and the names of the donors will be recorded in the BOOK
OF REMEMBRANCE located in the atrium at the Lansdowne location.

"The Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held
at Inova Loudoun
Hospital on Sunday afternoon, December 7, 2008 at 5:00 PM.
This very special program will feature the fourth and fifth
grade Chorus and Percussion Band from Hillside Elementary
directed by Rachel Newell and
Todd Grivetti and the Acappella Chorus, "Twelve"
from Heritage High School directed by Nancy Riley.
Please join us for this very special evening
of reflection and remembrance.

LIGHTS OF LOVE POEM

T'WAS THE NIGHT OF THE LIGHTING - ALL STANDING AROUND
WAITING IMPATIENTLY - T'WAS COLD ON THE GROUND.
THE LIGHTS - RED AND WHITE - AND THE STAR UP ABOVE
ALL READY TO SPARKLE - OUR LIGHTS OF LOVE
.
SEVERAL YEARS AGO OUR FIRST TREE WAS LIT
WE HOPED THAT OUR PROJECT WOULD BE A BIG HIT.
LETTERS WERE SENT OUT - SOME DUPLICATES TOO -
WE STRUGGLED TO MAKE OUR HOPES COME TRUE.
THE CANDLES WE LIT OULINING THE WAY.
WERE SNUFED OUT BY WIND ON THE VERY FIRST DAY. Pause
BUT THE LIGHTS WERE LIT - THE BELLS WERE RUNG
AND EVEN A FEW CHRISTMAS CAROLS WERE SUNG.
WHEN LEAVING THAT NIGHT - COLD, CRISP AND BRIGHT
THE TREE WITH ITS LOVE LIGHTS WAS REALLY A SIGHT!
WHEN, TO OUR DELIGHT, AS DONATIONS WERE COUNTED
THE GOAL WAS REACHED - OUR FEARS SURMOUNTED.
AT A REGULAR A MEETING WE MADE DECISION -
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NURSING COULD NOW BE GIVEN!
WHO WOULD DECIDE UPON THE RECIPIENT?
A COMMITTEE, OF COURSE - THE SELECTION WAS IMMINENT…..
WITH HEADS PUT TOGETHER AND CHECKING EACH GRADE
WE TRIED TO BE FAIR SI THAT NO DREAM WOULD FADE.
IN THE YEARS THAT FOLLOWED AS CHRISTMAS DREW NEAR
WE PREPARED TO ASSIST WITH A NURSING CAREER.
OUR LETTERS WENT OUT AS WE PLANNED FOR THE NIGHT
THAT OUR TREE OF LOVE AGAIN WE WOULD LIGHT.
AND AGAIN OUR FRIENDS WITH A GENEROUS HEART
LIGHT MANY A LIGHT - EACH DOING A PART.
TO HONOR SOMEONE - A STARLIGHT AT NIGHT
OR REMEMBER SOMEONE WITH A GLOWING LIGHT.
AND THEN, A SCHOLARSHIP SENDS ON TO SCHOOL
A STUDENT WHO'LL BECOME A NURSING JEWEL.
SO TO OUR FRIENDS WHO RESPOND TO OUR PLEA
OUR THANKS TO YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY.
HOW DO WE TELL YOU HOW SPECIAL YOU ARE?
YOU HELP US HELP SOMEONE TO REACH FOR A STAR.
WE ALL EXCLAIM ON THIS WONDERFUL NIGHT
